LTO readies cases vs NAIAX reckless driver

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has initiated administrative action against a motorist who was captured on video driving erratically along the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway (NAIAX), an incident that nearly resulted in a collision.

According to the LTO, a show cause order has been issued to both the driver and the registered owner of the Ford Everest involved in the viral incident. LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao emphasized that dangerous driving behavior will not be tolerated, as public safety on the roads remains a top priority.

Authorities noted that the vehicle was seen abruptly weaving across multiple lanes, placing other motorists at serious risk. As a precautionary measure, the driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, while the vehicle has been placed under alarm status pending the outcome of the investigation.

The driver and vehicle owner may face several violations, including reckless driving, improper use of signals, disregard of traffic signs, and allowing an unqualified individual to operate a motor vehicle.

Both parties have been directed to submit a sworn explanation with supporting documents to justify why administrative penalties should not be imposed or why the driver’s license should not be further suspended or revoked.

A formal hearing before the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division in Quezon City is scheduled for January 28.

The LTO also reiterated its call for motorists to strictly observe traffic regulations to prevent accidents and ensure safer road conditions.
